about Mirit Skeen
Mirit Skeen is a New York City based transmasc director and designer who’s interested in creating strange theatre, uncomfortable theatre, immersive theatre, and queer theatre. They earned their BFA in Theatre & Drama: Directing and a BA in Cognitive Science at the University of Michigan. Their past work includes "Elizabeth Cree" (SMTD Voice & Opera Dept), "Accidental Death of an Anarchist" (SMTD Theatre and Drama), “Indecent” (Rude Mechanicals), “WHO PUT BELLA IN THE WYCH ELM?” (Basement Arts) as well as the past three Summer Street Theater Tour at Theater for the New City.
They are SAFD Certified in 7 weapons for stage combat (unarmed, quarterstaff, rapier & dagger, two-hand broadsword, sword & shield, and single sword), experience in slapstick and physical comedy, and have extensive experience with practical effects, blood, and making an absolute mess onstage.
They are also a well-versed lighting designer and sound designer, having designed dozens and dozens of shows in different settings, theaters, and odd locations. Their design work has been seen around NYC and Ann Arbor, and can be seen on their portfolio page.
